Just play...

Since it's so hot out... it felt like a good day to just play.  So, I pulled out my dream pop scraps and played.

The starburst card from yesterday was still fresh in my mind, and I wondered what it would look like in other colors... 

used some flowers that had just been sitting there and some bling

The starburst card just fascinates me...Thinking this just might be a staple card with every kit... Look for more of them... and try some with left over scraps that coordinate:)

This darling card also uses dream pop scraps... not sure which one I like the best.  the middle one has yellow scallops under the pink square.  

The scallops were made with our new scallop punch (Z1851 $17.95) found on page 133 of the Autumn Winter Idea Book. I love the tiny scallops ... it almost feels delicate:)

Making a Wedding card...

A friend's son is getting married this weekend... so it's time to make a card:)

Saw this delightful card... called a sunburst or starburst card on Susan Williams Blog and have been excited to try to make one...  Well, today is the day.

One of the best things about making this card is that it's a great way to use up scraps... and it also helps that CTMH's background and texture papers are double sided:)  

Start with about 6 strips of B&T 1.5x4 and cut them diagonally.  At 1.25 inch from the bottom of the card, draw a line.  put lots of adhesive above the area and then place the triangles around it.  Anything below the line needs to be trimmed.  The triangles will hang off the end of the card. After the area is covered, trim off excess edges.  

Add a strip of cardstock, ribbon or shimmer trim to cover the rough edges and the drawn line.

Add bling and greeting as desired.

And Ta Da!  it's a lovely card!

The flowers (page 50) were cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge .  It's a super cartridge for the scrapbooker and card maker. Cricut cartridges are found on page 56-61 of the CTMH Autumn/Winter Idea Book.

#3 WOTG New and Improved

These workshops are designed for everyone to create on their own.  But what fun is that... So each month there is a WOTG class scheduled for those who like to create together. And it's free, with the purchase of the kit. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday each month and create at least two 2 page layouts... though it's usually more. (Additional cardstock may be purchased to complete more layouts).  

Many ladies in Hostess Club will order the WOTG and create up to four layouts in a month's time.  It's a great way to add scrapbook pages for layouts.  Not interested in the whole kit and caboodle...  no worries. Just purchase a level 2 paper pack and any extras you want and come and join us.

#3 They're Back...

One of my all time favorite things that CTMH created was the "How To" books. And then they went away.  But the Good News is... They're Back!!! Woot Woot!!!

Love love love the How to books!!!

Cherish, Imagine, Reflections and Magic are all Scrapbooking "How To" books. These Books give step by step directions and picture cutting directions, as well as tips and tricks along the way.

This layout from Tommy is based on the Cherish Layout from above.  Note the page on the left has been rotated and something have been adapted... but it's clear that the page was created using the Cherish book!!

I love these inspirational books... and it's amazing how different a page can look just by changing the papers.  I often refer to these books when a looking for an idea.

Number Four is Shimmer Trim in New colors

Shimmer trim is not a new product, but we have two new colors this fall. It is wonderful and super easy to work with.  It's five yards of 1/2 inch glitter trim and is available in four colors. Each roll is just $4.95 before shipping and tax.

a little sparkle can be a bright spot!!

The best part about Shimmer trim is that is adhesive-back so it's super easy to use.  I use my piercing tool to peel the back off.
