April Shoebox Cards

April is here and so is spring!  Check out the creations for April's Shoebox get together!!

This is a darling Easter box that could hold some treats, $$ or would be cute to set on the table during Easter.  The box is inspired by Pootles from the UK.  It starts with a 5x8.5 piece of cardstock.  Scoring the long way, score at 2 and at 4.  Next, turn the cardstock so that the short score is at the top.  Score at 2, 4, 6, and 8.  Next score at 1&5 only to the first score line.  Next take a ruler and score from the 1 inch mark to the four inch score line in the to make diagonal lines to the 4 inch score line.  Now fold on the score lines, except the diagonal lines.  then cut of the 1x.5  and the bottom 2x.5 (there should be a 2x.5 in the middle.)  also, cut up the bottom slits.  and cut off the top 1x6.  corner round the top flap.  Fold the diagonals. fold up the bottom and adhere... I like the front flap to be the last on so that it looks like it flows.  then tie the ribbon.  thin cuts were used to make the oval egg and the chick was stamped on yellow background and texture paper and cut out and used an orange marker to color in the bill and the feet.  A glue dot will hold the egg to the ribbon so it can be slid on and off. Cute!!

Anita's card features yummy Ice Cream stamps and paper!  The ice cream was two step stamping, so we stamped off the first layer and then added the second layer.  the ice cream cone was doubled with a dimensional layer and a sweet yellow bow.  A cherry added to the top really makes the card!  We also added a chocolate cone on the inside.  A super sweet card!!

Beth's turn for a twofer... This fun card says... Sometimes you're the windshield... and the inside says, sometimes you're the BUG!... we added a bug and some dashes to connect the BUG to the top of the card (the pic didn't turn out very good)... and then the phrase Hang in there! was also stamped on the inside.  we did color the bug!  Such a cute stampset!  and a thoughtful card!!

Beth's second card is a bright and colorful card with a frog under an umbrella saying Hoppy for you!  It's a great card for April Showers bringing May Flowers!  What fun!!

Julie's card is a beautiful card... it began as an 8x8 card, scored at 4 all the way acrossed and then at four down to the first score mark.  We cut it the rest of the way down.  She gave us two patterned papers 3.75x3.75 which we cut diagonally... and a green paper that we added texture to by running it through the cuttlebug. We added Magnets under the patterned paper and there was also a white paper and we added the negative magnet under that.   There are two connected circles and one free circle to make the stand up.  the connected circles had one folded back on itself, then flipped it the other way and adhered the greeting circle to that.  next, add the heart to make it stand.  This is a beautiful card!

Melani helped us create the never ending card.  We started two 6x6 pieces of cardstock and scored them at 1.5 and 4.5 and cut them in half going through the score marks.  Next lay out the two going one way and next on top, have them going the other way.  Next lift up one of the flaps and only put glue in the corner square.  Do this on each corner.  Now work the folds and decorate.

Roxxy's cute Easter card features fun easter egg paper with colored easter eggs.  the first flap is folded back on itself and and decorative paper added to the front and to the inside.  A Bunny sticker was added to a diecut tag... (only put adhesive on half of the tag... )

Under the bunny is another tag with an easter greeting and a bow.  (note... make sure that the tags are placed on top of each other.   This is a nice springy card!

The next Shoebox cards will meet on Tuesday May 7 at 6:30 PM.

March Shoebox Cards

Hi Everyone,

I think I blinked... and then it was April!  Here's our creations from March... Love these creations and the ladies that share their talents and their stuff!!

The first card (a bit different than the original, but the same basic design... the stamp set is different) Stamping the flowers on the white, mounted on a darker purple with a simple yellow center. The lower part of the card has second generation stamping along with a simple greeting.  This card would be easily adapted to what ever stamps you have on hand.

Anita did a two-fer in March... we were able to create two cards!!  The first card is a lovely layered Thinking of you... with the addition of a layer, and the "photo mounts" and the ribbon make this versatile card.  The flowers were stamped on the front and also stamped and cut out to add additional dimension.

Anita's second card uses a random stamped card using a lovely hydrangea stamp and using a blue and purple give this card a soft feel and with the addition of leaves, it completes this card.  The extra layer really gives this card dimension and gives a more elegant feel.  There are also three diecut butterflies that add an elegant touch.  Love all of the stamping on this card.

Beth was out of town in March, but was impressed to still send the supplies to create this fabulous under the sea card. Many of the times were already cut out and supplied with adhesive.  Love this background and texture paper... and the diecut net and octopus.  What a fun and creative card.

Julie's card has a Saint Patrick's day feel to it.  Fun paper and stamps.  The design she was working on didn't work the way she wanted... (we have all been there) so she brought all of her supplies and just let us create our own design!  Everyone's a wee bit Irish on St. Paddy's Day!!

Shannon's creation also features a Saint Patrick's flavor.  She had fun two types of background and texture paper, one featuring shamrocks and one just shades of green... and adding the cut out shamrocks really give a pop to this fun card.  Love the green ribbon on the side as well!  just such a sweet card!!

Melani's card was a fun fold card.  Lots of squares in this card, we started out with 4x12 piece of lightweight cardstock, and scored it at 4 and 8.  Then we scored from the bottom left to the upper right of both of the end pieces Then adhere the 3x3 square... only on half the diagonal... and then it folds in on itself.  An additional 2x2 square was added on the top of the 3x3 square.  It was tied with a piece of yarn.  How cute.

Roxxy drove us "Buggy" with this cute card... She had pre cut the shape (a diamond) for us, and then we had to score, starting in the middle... putting the center point on six of our scoreboard, scoring at 5.5 and 6.5, 5 and 7, 4 and 8, 3.5 and 8.5, 2.5 and 9.5, 2 and 10, 1 and 11, .5 and 11.5 (this last piece will hang over the edge of the 4x5.25 layer.  The card is decorated with puffy bugs and fun words cut from a wordstrip.  Super cute card!!

Shoebox cards is a wonderful night of creativity, laughter and conversation!  It's fun to find such a group of ladies that I call my friends.  Love you all!!
