September Shoebox Cards!!

Hi Hi!!  

One of my favorite nights is Shoebox Card Night!  I love chatting with my girls and being creative.

Thanks to Julie for bringing candy!!  Chocolate just makes the whole night better!  And Thanks to Anita for bring "Crack"  her amazing Crackers and pecans!  (She didn't go home with any because it's amazing!!)

We welcomed back Dixie tonight!  So it's great to see her tonight!!

So here's our amazing creations for the night!!

I saw this amazing eyecatching card that Margi Gilbertson created and had to make it... I didn't even have the stamp set, but her dramatic card made me want to get it.  

This card uses the Hostess Stamp set D1608 Better with a Friend, Paper fundementals Basic, Peacock green Shinhan marker, Black shinhan marker, and black shimmer trim.  I used the cricut to cut a 2 inch circle for the greeting and 2.25 bumpy circle to highlight the greeting.  also, the circle embossing folder was used to create dimension on the cardstock.

I Love Love Love this Frank Card!  Anita knows that I love Frankie and loves to design a card for me!!  So she did this card for me and based her group card on it!!  This card is a bendy card!  Frank is attached on the very right of the card and there are score marks to allow Frank the bend and open.  

The card size is 5.5x7.5.  Score at 3.25 then fold.  then score 1/8 (three times) to create the bendy fold

And this is my version.  Each our "Frankies" had his own personalities!!  What a fun and fabulous card!!

Dixie's delightful card was quick and easy, we stamped the trees in a solid green and then overstamped it with a rainbow of green inks to add dimension.  Next we added some brown marker to add some branches.  And finally we added a touch of blue chalk to the sky.  

Julie's Fabulous Fall card featured leaves (added veins with a stylus) and some pop dots for dimension.  and the love love the butterfly that has three layers... 

Kathy taught us this clever purse that is made from a 12x12 piece of B&T paper.  We scored at 1,5,6,7,11 then turn paper and score at 3.25 and 9. then we folded all the lines...

Next fold the 1 and the 11 inch then fold the other direction bringing all to the middle and use paper clips or binding clips on each end and add ribbon.

Lori's darling card uses this amazing butterfly to create this lovely card... just fluttering by to say "Hi!" Who doesn't love a flutterby!!  We also talked about how to use wax paper to help when using these cutting templates. 

Melani created lots of cards for Dulce to help with a fund raiser and she loved this card... it's a great way to use scraps.  it's just strips of paper over a string and glued together.  the middle one has been a attached to the card base to hold the string in place.  Cute and quick!!

Roxxy's crazy card features punched shapes that cover a card and create a quilt like background.  We did this on slightly smaller piece of cardstock (4x5.25) and then mounted it to the card.  What a fun saying... What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?  LOL!!

August Shoebox Cards

Hi Everyone!! 

Hope you are enjoying this lovely weather we have been having!  

Tonight we had a small group, but boy did we have fun!!  Special thanks to Lori who shared amazing brownies with Chocolate chips in them!!  Yep... bet you are jealous now!!  Roxxy and I ate them all!!  Just kidding, but they were wonderful!!

So here are the amazing creations from tonight!  

My card was inspired by the Julie Carriere!!  She used burlap and mine was no where to be found... so it was time to get creative.  found some drywall tape and used a sponge to give the illusion of burlap!!  Lots of distressing too... with a sponge and the distressing tool.  What fun!!

Lori's lovely card had lots of layers and a pop of surprise! Make a wish with this classy embossed card!!  And the ribbon is the perfect color!!

Roxxy's fancy card had lots of layers too... the paper is double sided since we made two of each card tonight (because we could)  I used the paper each way!  Love the fun center embellishment!  and Loved that the ribbon had fun polk a dots!!  

We missed the peeps that were on vacation... and hope they can join us in September for the next ShoeBox Card night!!  

The next ShoeBox Card Night will be Tuesday September 1st!  Can't wait to see ya!!

July Shoebox Card night

What a great night we had tonight!!  Thanks everyone for coming and for sharing your talents and ideas with us!!  And we missed a couple of the regulars... Dulce and Anita and hope you can join us next month!

Here's my card.. Inspired by a card sent to me by Pat Pobst!  

The card is 10x4 and scored at 2 and 6.  I trimmed just a smidge off the 4x4 so it was easier to tuck under the flap.  Then we took a 2 flower punch from the side and tried to punch it halfway on the line.  Added a flower cut on the cricut and a cute saying and a flourish!  Such fun!

Next is Julie's amazing card!  it starts with a 4x11 piece of cardstock and score at .5, 2, 4, 5.5.  another piece of cardstock 3x5.5 and score at .5 and 2.  Attach b&t paper to front and back.  Put adhesive on half inch strip.  Adhere the large part of the smaller piece to the box and then put glue on the half inch strip again.  then decorate.  Fabulous card Jules!!

Kathy loved colored pencils and flowers!  We had a great time coloring our pansies and they all looked so different!  Love this card!!

Lori's lovely tree card... What fun!  It's a great masculine card and love the muted tones!  She also suggested that this would make a good sympathy card as well... just change the greeting!!

Melani's amazing 3-D card.  We stamped our own back ground and she had the cards pre scored for us (2 1/8, 3 1/8, 5 1/4, 6 3/8) and it folds up to equal 5.5x4.25.  one important tip about mounting the bear is to close the card as it is sized to 4.25 and needs to line up with the card so it will fit in an envelope.  Very nice card Melani... and she had the bear stamped for us.  And Roxxie Shared her resin flowers with us!!

Roxxie, it was nice to have you join us again!!  What a fun card...  the strips were pre cut for us!  We had a choice of flower colors and added a strip for the stem and knotted ribbon for the leaves.  So sweet and simple!  Lovely!

Shannon joined us tonight too!  She loved this saying and was excited to fine assorted papers and to go along with it!  We have fun creative play with this card and stamps and papers!!  all the cards were fun and different!!  So glad you came!  and we had fun with this card!

June Shoebox Cards

Thanks to everyone for coming!  I love Shoebox Card night!  We have such a talented group!  It's such a pleasant night between chatter, creativity, snacks and giggling!!

We missed several peeps this month, but it's a busy time of the year!  And hopefully they can join us in July!  The next class is Tuesday July 7th at 7:00 pm!!

We all need a sympathy card now and then!  Love how the layers really work on this card.  The ribbon was added using a double hole punch method and really adds a nice touch. 

Anita Whitson

What an elegant card this is!  Lots of texture and dimension.  We used punches, sponging, and embossing folders.  There is also a bit of lovely ribbon underneath the flap.  

Julie Huebner

We all had fun with this fabulous card that was created out of quarter inch scraps!  I filled the whole card because I just couldn't stop, but many gals just did a cross hatch pattern!  Such a fun card!!

What a fun card this was.. we all had different papers and lots of embellishments, butterflies and flowers and sentiments.  It's such a fun card as the sentiment flips!!

Melani Hawkins

Can you believe that the hanger is made from a paper clip (and a needle nosed pliers)!  and the ties are just ribbon!  what a fun Father's Day card!!

Ladies your creativity astounds me!  Thanks for sharing your creativity!  And your chocolate and fruit melt aways!

May Shoebox Card Night

Hi Gang!  Here's the creations from Shoebox Card Group!

thanks for your patience as it was a busy week last week!

So I was chatting with Anita before club and she shared that she was making a card with the hexagon stamp set... and then I saw a beautiful card created by Carol Laboski and together they inspired this card lovely card!!  I love the monochromatic but also included a gray matte to give a little different look.  

Then, since I was sponging off of Anita, I decided to add another card using the new May constant campaign a taste of summer and it's companion stamp set .Thanks to Christina Eisenhour for her inspiration for this lovely card!  It was so much fun!!  Also, I used the Dot Embossing folder just for fun!!

Anita had so much fun with this stamp set that we were able to do two cards... 

 

So here's my version of Anita's lovely card!! Love the rich colors!!  and the beautiful butterfly cutout!!

Monochromatic works for me... (might need to find a bee to add to this lovely card)

Dulce spent a lot of time on her cricut!  Lots of layers to make this lovely and bright balloon card!!

Julie taught us how to create this lovely flower out of two 3x3 squares of paper.  it's a little tricky, but lovely!!

Kathy had an extra card kit, so we all did different cards.  What fun!  Love the cards and the colors!!

Lori created this lovely Mother's Day Card.  

Melani taught us a different way to cut out 4.25x5.5 card... because one side opens sideways and the other opens up.  (tip when adhering the diamond on the front, only use glue on half so that the card can open up).

Shannon did this fun Cinco de Mayo card using crepe paper to decorate the donkey pinata.

April Shoebox Cards

Hi All!  Thanks for stopping by to check out our fun and fabulous cards!  What a fun and busy night we had!  Thanks Dulce for the awesome Corn dip!  

Tonight we laughed, we stamped, we scored, we sprayed glue, we colored, we embossed and we smooched... it was a night to remember with great cards too!

So Here they are!!

This is my bold card!!  It uses the Black from the Paper Fundementals (Basic Color group), Black Shimmer trim and fun buttons and it's a great way to use of strips of scraps!!  This card was inspired by Connie McFarlane!!  

Anita Showed us a new technique that she called watercolor with out the water... We swiped the pink, then stamped off, then smooshed it into green ink and stamped (repeat 3 times) then add stems and leaves as desired and then pressure emboss!  Clever clever... The greeting is also bumped under the TE in Celebrate with a dimensional.  Lovely!!

Dulce's card converted into a post-it-note holder!  and it was amazingly simple too!  4x12 strip of cardstock folded in half and then fold one of those in half.  Add the B&T paper to the bottom 1/4  strip and there it is!  Neat as can be!!  The post it notes hold the greeting up!  She also shared that a photo could be used as well as the B&T paper.  Super cute and fun!!

Julie always has an amazing project for us to do!  these darling cards are quick and fun to make.  

Tall card... We used 8.5 X 11 white cardstock and scored... one at 4.25 the long way, then turned and scored at 2.75 and 8.25. Cut off two of the corners (making sure to cut the flap a little bit smaller to ensure that the outer flaps will close.  Then we had one patterned and one cardstock pieces 4x12 and cut one of each at 5.25x4 and patterned paper in the inside and cardstock on the outside.  Then we cut the flaps... 5.25 and then cut them at 2 inches, this time the cardstock was in the inside and the B&T was on the outside.  We did make a belly band as well

Short card. Score 8.5x11 at 5.5 the short way.  Then turn and score at 2 1/8 and flip it around and score at 2 1/8 again. Follow same procedure as above.

5.25x4 patterned and solid, and 5x4 cut at 2.5 and decorate the flaps. You Rock Jules!!

Kathy loves collages... so tonight she shared with us a fun and fabulous card!  First we smooched gold spray on the dark cardstock and the brown glitter spray on the envelope (let it dry before continuing).  Then we spray glued the skeleton leaf to adhere it to the cardstock... added feathers, ribbon, velum flower and a jewel. Also, we stamped the flower on the envelope and added some glitter glue and stamped it in the center of the flower.  It really is a very cool card... lots of steps, but so very cool!!

Lori was finally able to join us tonight!!  Yeah We missed you!!  She had these pieces ready to go and it was a quick and lovely card!  She borrowed Maria's cricut cartridge to cut out the skates and the snowflake.  The boots were embossed as was the card!  We did have to tie our own bow though!  What a darling Winter card!  Good thing Winter is over for most of us now!  And it will be fun to send it to someone next year!! Sweet Card Miss Lori!!

Melani gave us another great idea for using scraps!  These fun and fabulous cards are 3x3 in size but and just adorable!  A simple stamp in the center and 1/2 inch strips around the edge. a quick color job and some simple embellishments.  So Elegant!! and quick!!  Love them!!

We welcomed Dulce's friend Tory from Dunkerton for her first time and I think she really enjoyed it!  Thanks gals for coming and sharing your toys and ideas with us!  And thanks Julie for saying that you look forward to this night all month!  It so much fun being crafty together!!

March Shoebox Card Night

Greetings everyone!  

Wow!!  What an Amazing Night!  Great projects!  Thanks everyone for coming and sharing! And Thanks Julie for bringing our Sugar Buzz (Peanut M&Ms)!!

So here are the creations from tonight!!

Anita Taught us how to do flower layers!!  Two large flowers and two spiky flowers for the middle.  Curl two large flowers up and two large flowers down, create a well, push and shove, curl the spiky flower two up and two down, create a well and glue together!  Turned out so lovely!!

The Flower makes the card Amazing!!

And this box is her own pattern made from a 6x12 sheet of thicker B&T paper.

This is my creation using the Brushed stamp set and A Thing Well Done.  Someone posted a card similar to this in one of the public forums and then it disappeared .. but I loved it so much that I tried my best to copy it.  Unfortunately not able to give credit where credit is due... but I love love love this amazing card!!  Butterflies cut with Art Philosphy Cricut cartridge!!

Here's second version

Dulce taught us to make a room card out of 4 circles. (that's my thumb holding it together before it unfolds.  Who knew!!  Loved making this clever card!!

Here it is open... and what fun to decorate.  Each room can have a different color and theme!

And here's a view from the top!  Love that when it's open, it's like a full circle!  What a great craft and it was relatively easy... fold in quarters, cut on one crease and then bend one quarter (not close to the slit in half again.  Make all four pieces look alike and glue three sides.  Pretty impressive!

Julie wowed us with her waterfall baby cards.  She gave us enough stuff for a girl card and a boy card!  I love the brads that pink and blue in the centers.  And she had off the pieces cut for us!  Crazy great!!  And lots of great tips... starting with gluing the "Y" on first and then gluing the "Y" to the strip for easy pulling...

Kathy dazzled us with a quick lesson in colored pencils.  What a bright and fun card for Easter.  Love the sweet Spring brads too!!  Hoping that Spring will arrive soon!!

Melani taught us how to turn water color splashes into Easter chicks!  We first splashed some water color spots on the paper and when they dried, we free handed the circle around them, then drew two eyes, wherever we wanted then added a triangle near the eyes for a beak and added a splash of orange color to the beak. next we drew the legs and feet. Then we added tail feathers and wing (oops for my wings) and then a little swoosh of a line and some green paint for grass... quick and fun and unique!!

I learned tonight that Shannon is Irish!  So we made Saint Pat's cards!  Fun B&T paper and a great stamp with the blessing on the inside.  Love stamping the shamrocks and the embellishment of the clover.  Darling Fun Card!!

It was a late night but so totally fun!! Our next Shoebox night will be Tuesday April 7th!!  We missed our Friend Lori who is recovering from knee surgery... (She'll probably be running circles around us next month!!)  And maybe even Roxxy will join us next time!!
