January Shoebox Cards

Hi everyone!  Hope you had a wonderful holiday.  It sure went by fast... hard to believe it's already the middle of January...

Here are our January creations!!

My card was inspired by Anna Jarnigan.  It uses Chelsea bulk paper, the scalloped border thin cuts and used the Flower Market Cricut cartridge for create the foliage. Also, the green twine was secured with the mini stapler.

Anita's creation is a stand up calendar card.  The pretty paper really makes this card a real stand out.  There is a middle is a w that holds the card together.  Here's to a great 2019!

Beth's monochromatic winter card is a beautiful thinking of you card during the short dreary days of winter.  She also added a couple of fun stamped tabs to add dimension.  This is a great card!

We talked about digging out some of our old favorite stamps and techniques... So Melani actually did it.  She used Judith's bear and we made masks and stamped the large daisy background stamp over it.  We used chalk to color the bear and colored in the daisy's with green and yellow.  It was fun to use an old favorite stamp!  What a fun card!!

Roxxy's card is a sympathy card.  We used markers to color the trees, it's helpful to huff on the markered image when you stamp it on the paper.  This is a very versatile card design.

Shannon's creation is features a cricut image of the state of Iowa and the saying is "sending a smile across the miles".  There was a choice of colors... of course I chose blue. And a little bling always makes extra fun.

Julie's card is a star effect card.  It starts with a regular card and then cut them diagonally from the center out,  then have two different pattern papers, making sure to cut them diagonally the correct direction and add them to the cardstock.  cut slits in the card base and affix the loose triangles together as desired (keep in mind the size of envelope if you intend to mail it and adjust the triangles accordingly.)

We had a great time meeting in January and look forward to meeting in February.  It seemed to work well meeting at 6:30 PM, so that will continue with that.  The next group get together will be Tuesday February 5 at 6:30.  See you then!!

Shoebox Christmas party

We enjoyed a wonderful Holiday get together.  There was lots of good food and holiday punch.  We even had a few projects to create.  This is an amazing group of creative women and I always look forward to our monthly get togethers.

After crafting (pictures of projects are down below) we headed to the kitchen for some yummy refreshments.

...and after refreshments we headed to the living room for the home made gift exchange.  This year, we drew numbers and played the choose a new gift or steal from someone else's gift.

Who is number one??

Anita's gift is this beautiful poinsettia wreath and the yellow center lights up.  (Gift made by Julie Huebner)

Beth's gift is a cute wooden snowman that has changeable scarf and of course she put the Iowa State scarf on him!!  (gift from Roxxy Zilk).

My gift is a vinyl decorated window that says hello.  The window is an old window from Melani's basement.  (Gift made by Melani Hawkins)

Julie's gift is a coaster calendar on chipboard and rings.  Along with a few other goodies.  (gift made by Beth Barber)

Kathy's gift was foot scrubs and lotion.  She was the last trade and was so excited to get this  gift.  (gift made by Shannon Habinck)

Melani's gift was the lap quilt and it was stolen... more details on that later.  (the quilt was made by Kathy Swinton)

Roxxy's gift is a coaster calendar with a stand (the stand came later). (the gift was made by Diane Bowman)

Shannon's gift was a little scrapping tote filled with goodies like tags and cards.  (the home made goodies were made by Anita Whitson)

There were lots of laughing and smiling and cheers that night. (and maybe even a little butt kicking over gift stealing) as pictured below...

and finally a lovely group picture!  So much fun!!  Love this shoebox card group!!

Merry Christmas!!
