March Hostess Club Layout

Hostess Club for me is a lot of fun... I take time to look for ideas that feature interesting ideas to share with the members.  The first page is inspired by a layout found on the Jeanette Lynton Blog in 2012 and the second page is inspired by Dana Kessler's Ivy Lane layout.

With the long winter here in Iowa, this layout felt fresh and inviting and showed several great techniques... scissor distressing, stamping backgrounds tweaks, rainbow paper piecing and a few older techniques that work well in this layout, paper tearing and ink distressing.

The Artiste cricut cartridge was used.. page 56 accent 4 cut at 3 inches, using honey and goldrush and were lined up to allow both layers to show.  A sentiment is stamped on a 1.25 circle stamped in Autumn Terracotta and adhered in the middle of the sun.  

Other stamps used are the Full of Fun from the Laughing Lola WOTG and I loved the "chevrons" used on the sentiment, so the stamp set D1540 In the Background stamp set felt like a "Groovy" addition.  It was stamped off to lessen the color and also smudging the ends to get rid of the blunt ends helped it to add a design element to the feature.

Colors used in this layout are Lagoon, Honey, Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, and Cashmere.  The layout is built on Colonial white cardstock.

Ivy Lane WOTG

Hi Hi... 

It's always exciting when a new idea book starts to look at the new kits and decide which order to do them in.  The first new WOTG will be Ivy Lane and will happen the Tuesday February 25th or maybe it will be for Saturday February 15th for the crop.

The kit has purples and pinks and is can be very flowery.  Here's my take on the first layout!!

It's very similar to the instructional guide and it was fun to put this layout together.  Of course, guests are welcome to create as they desire and put their own spin on it.  

I have at least three other designs in mind .

March Shoe Box Card Group

The first Tuesday night of the month is Shoe Box Card night.  It's a fun night where we basically do a hands on swap.  Everyone designs a card and then brings supplies for everyone else to recreate that card.  And of course someone usually bring a treat.

And tonight Anita made her famous "Crack" ... Crackers loaded with pecans and sugar.. Yumm!! And we chatted And we made cards ...   AND it didn't Snow!  So Yippee!!

We missed some of our regulars... and hope they will be back next month.  The next Shoe Box Card Class will be Tuesday April 1st:)  No Joke!  Make plans to attend!!

 Anita's fun and fab card featuring Shamrocks! love how the stamping really makes this card come alive! (it's a creative version of her famous step cards). 

 My card was inspired by Dawn Montagno with a twist... the new embossing folder quatrefoil was used and used chocolate ink to help it stand out.

Dulce thinks outside the box with this fun card... "You Nailed it!!" We used glue dots to hold the nails in place, then added the tape... it's a great card... and especially nice for the guys:) 

 Kathy's Whimsical Easter card featuring fabric yo yo's makes anyone smile! Welcome back Kathy!!

 Lori is sweet Springy card not only puts us in the mood for spring... it also was created from scraps!!  And so is her next creation!  

Melani always delights us with a festive card!  Most cards were a combination of red and blue, but there's usually a rebel in the crowd who has to change it up... usually it's Melani... LOL!!!  nah.. I just like blue:)

The Next Workshop on the Go is... Ivy Lane

The March WOTG is Ivy Lane!!

The class is scheduled for Tuesday March 25th... doors open at 6:30 and it's a free class with the purchase of a WOTG or the level two paper pack. 

The intention is to create at least three layouts using this kit... (and possible more) Please be aware that additional cardstock may be needed to complete all the layouts.  Cardstock may be purchased from me as needed.

Colors featured are: Bamboo, Blush, Hollyhock, IvyLane green, IvyLane Purple.

WOTG Sarita #5

One more layout featuring Sarita... 

I really enjoyed this layout and thought it would also work very well for a Blue and Gold event or a scouting event... How cool is that!  And the accessories for this kit are really nice too!

 

This layout is based out of the Make It From Your Heart 2 pattern 6. 

The borders from the stickease were just so lovely, I had to do another layout using them!  To conserve paper, the goldrush border is just quarter in strips and they add a great highlighting effect.  The words Just Be are from the Artbooking cartridge and are cut at 3 inches.  

When using patterned papers, do take the time to make sure that the patterns are going in the same direction.  Just saying!  LOL!

WOTG is a great way to get several layouts done using one kit!  Join us next month for the Ivy Lane Kit.

Sarita WOTG

So... I have to admit I saved this one for last... because I really didn't like it... and now that I have played with it... it has become one favorite kits.  Grin...

WOTG... Workshops on the go are a fun and fabulous way to get lots of scrapping using a similar color scheme.  And WOTG classes are free with the purchase of a kit!  

The Sarita WOTG is no longer available, but the paper packet and the accessories are.  So check it out!  The WOTG class is the fourth Tuesday of each month and usually has a theme.
