August Stamp of the Month

It's a new month... and lots of new and exciting things! It's fun using the new products from the new Annual Inspirations and sharing them with you!

So easily this is an amazingly versatile stamp set and one that every stamper is going to want!

Here's my first card using this set... 

This card was done using the Chalk It Up set.  The words are stamped in Lagoon ink. 

Here's another fun card using the same owl and different B&T papers.

This owl is sporting Confetti Wishes paper (X7189B) featuring the new color Thistle and Canary as well as an old favorite Pacifica.  Also love the new diagonal striped Thistle ribbon (Z1990)

So here are the step by step directions for doing the owl card.

The owl image was stamped four times or parts of it were... I really used mostly scraps to put this together.  

Stamp the owl on the main piece.
The CW is 3/4 and the WD is 2.5x3.5.

Stamp the upper body

cut it all out

stamp the tummy and cut it out.

Stamp the eyes and cut them out

So this is all of the pieces cut out.

Now start gluing the largest piece first and then layering on top of that.

Lots of options for the eyes...

For the eyes... Someone else used googly eyes, I stamped them in the first one and then saw someone else... (sorry I don't remember but I think it was Fancy Melissa) used the new sequins (Z2102) or (Z2103) and aqua dots... I loved it... so I used it here too... with (Z1807) pink glitter gems

Once again... here is the final project.  It's just so cute!

and since we are on an Owl Theme... I have one more card to share with you tonight... my sweet friend Carol Loftus sent me a darling owl card and she has given me permission to post it.

Carol's lovely card is using the Scaredy Cat collection... and her owl is all stamps with black sequins for the eyes!  What a fun card!!

It's Finally August... Blog Hop time!

It's so exciting!  August is Finally here and it's time to share some of the great new products coming out in the new CTMH Annual Inspirations!  Be sure to scroll down and click on any tile to check out fabulous creations.

I Love Love LOVE the Workshops on the Go! So... here's the WOTG for September!  It's called Chalk It Up (G1081)!  and it's a back to school kit!  Great colors and Great layout and Great stamps!  Oh my!

This is the third layout that goes with the kit... I wanted to post this one first as it's new and unique.  

Lots of fun new products on this layout.

I loved the lagoon paper in this kit!  Loved this circle paper.  This is a fun layout that uses a lot of new products.  The letter set is E1030 Handwritten Print and it's amazing! It has both upper and lower case letters as well as numbers.   I have really enjoyed using this alphabet set.  

The Striped Twill Ribbon (Z1988) is a fun addition to this page... and the pleating looks really great with this fun ribbon!  Glue dots are the secret to the pleating!  The ribbon comes in the WOTG kit (five yards).  I like how the ribbon ties the layouts together.

The Chalk It Up assortment (Z3009) is one of my favorites... it 49 puffy stickers and it's just plain fun!!! This layout has some black accents ... I used the black marker to color in the white part of the glasses to make them look like sunglasses... 

And of course the Black Arrow Washi Tape (Z2003) adds a perfect touch to this layout.  The tape was mounted on white cardstock  and then applied to each layout.  **Please note that there is 12 inches of arrow pattern before it repeats.  

So This Workshop will be held on Tuesday September 23.

Here's the first layout... 

This is the first layout using the WOTG guide with a couple of extra things added.  Notice the star explosion in the lower right... that's using a stampset called Great Job (C1588). It's stamped in archival black and then I used the new Shinhan markers to color in the different points.  I did color the stars in twice so it had a richer color.  I like the light touch these markers offer.. and find that it's easy to layer colors without pushing too hard.

This layout uses the Artbooking cricut cartridge to cut the calendar and the photo mats accent. I cut them out of black cardstock instead of the B&T paper and added sorbet and flaxen cardstock behind the cutouts. I opted not to do the notebook edges.  Also, I did use the Chalk It Up Chipboard (X7184C) assortment.

And here is the second layout... very similar to the WOTG guide. I chose to use solid lagoon cardstock for the background and cut up one sheet of B&T paper so then I have an extra sheet of B&T paper left for another layout.

I did something fun with this layout and used the new Triangle Border Punch (Z1997).  Notice the middle bottom left and the right side of the right page.  This was done by punching the background cardstock and then adhering flaxen cardstock behind it.  My rub and remove eraser (Z1207) sure came in handy with that trick.

I loved the ribbon from the first layout and so it was added to this layout as well.  There was also a bit of color switch up too... I added a quarter inch of orange trim at the edges of the B&T papers and made the photo mats using flaxen cardstock. Did I mention that it was fun to embellish using the Chalk It Up assortment and that I LOVE this embellishment!  I could have used two of these!!!

Also, I made my own back ground stamp on the right page by using a larger block and putting the numbers from the Chalk It Up WOTG stamp set.

Then the stamp was inked using lagoon ink onto the lagoon cardstock. These numbers are a bit lithe so do use a light touch when stamping... 

And here's the results.... made random stamping go very quick... maybe six stamps to do 2/3 of the page. 

Here's another layout ... using the bulk paper... It was inspired by Laura Lee Ryan... 

This layout features frames and stars cut from the Artbooking cartridge.  It also features the new washi tape Lagoon Hearts (Z2004) which is new and Smoothie striped washi tape (Z1923) both of which are one inch wide. This was a fun layout to do.

WOTG Details and Autumn/Winter Schedule

As you know, WOTG is usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month and guests are welcome anytime after 6:30 to work on their projects.  It's a free workshop for those who have purchased the kit. (additional papers may be required to complete projects and are available for purchase as necessary).  

What is the "KIT"?  CTMH offers a Workshop on the Go (aka WOTG) which usually includes a level 2 paper pack, a "D" sized stamp set designed to coordinate with the kit, a WOTG assortment, an accent and a color brochure... all at a discounted price.  

Do you have to buy the WOTG kit to attend?  Heck no... but you will need to buy a level two paper pack and perhaps a few extras.  Be sure to check this blog for "Shopping List" for the coordinating WOTG that you are interested in. There will be a "Shopping List" of coordinating products with links to my OBA for a looky lou. You can find the July WOTG shopping list here.  Each kit will have a similar posting.

FYI, any WOTG kit can be worked on at any time... so you are always welcome to participate when it suits you.  The cool thing is that I like to do more than just the two layouts in the brochure and I also like to tweek them, so keep that in mind... and always feel free to participate in a WOTG that has already been worked on... 

I love love love the WOTG as it's an easy way to get a lot of scrapping done using a theme and it's always fun to scrap with others and it's an amazing way to get several layouts done in a short amount of time.  And there's usually something new and fun to try, so it's exciting to learn something new.  And it's always fun to do with a couple of other people.  And how wonderful is it to have 3-4 (and sometimes there are 5-6 layouts) at the ready?!?!?!?

Also, you are not limited to what I have created... you are certainly welcome to create your own version as well or switch up the papers as they work better for you.

So that being said, I invite you to try out a WOTG and see how amazing it is for you.  Also, if you have participated in the WOTG class and have loved it, comment below and be entered in a contest for a half priced WOTG kit of your choice of current kits.  Drawing to be held at the end of August!

Washi Wonder

Have you joined the Washi tape craze?  It adds fun and easy elements to all of your projects and CTMH has really nice washi tape.

How do you learn to use Washi tape?  My best advice is to just play with it... One night at shoebox cards, Dulce brought over her whole collection and 5x4 index cards and just let us play.  What a fun time with had... 

Here's a great tip... if you want a white or solid background, simply put the washi tape on a white strip of cardstock!  This is a great way to use up an scrap white strips left over from trimming edges.  

Here's some other ideas to use Washi tape!  I love love love washi tape.  I have experimented with lot's of different kinds of Washi tape and have to share that CTMH tape is a great value and coordinates well with other CTMH products.

Jubilee Workshop on the Go

It's July... and it's a perfect time for the Jubilee WOTG.  It's the perfect theme for Fourth of July County Fair or picnic type event!  It sports the colors cranberry, topiary, indian corn blue and honey!  

This was not my favorite kit at all... but I have to say that after working with it for a while... and thanks to some lovely scrapbook artists as well... I am thrilled with the layouts!  Special thanks to fellow consultants Andrea Sherman and Lynn Como for the artistic inspiration!

Embossing Folders

Do you love the new embossing folders!  Me too!  It's a great way to texture and dimension to a layout or card.  And it's super fun!!!

Currently CTMH carries five super embossing folders... Stripes, Quatrefoil, Damask, Dots and Chevrons.  Which one is your favorite?

This delightful card (stamplifted from Patricia Manhire) uses the quatrefoil embossing folder.

This layout uses the chevron embossing folder and love that long strips can be created for use on layouts.
